Planning an exciting engagement party for family, friends, and co-workers to attend can be a stressful endeavor. It could be made even more so if you are trying to plan for people coming in from out of town in addition to everything else.
Having to take into account dozens of people’s needs, making sure there’s food and drink that works for everyone, and the act of scheduling a date that works alone is a Herculean task. After all, this is a special event that for many people is the first time they may be getting to meet the soon-to-be spouses before the wedding.
So how would one go about thoughtfully planning an unforgettable engagement party?
Who Plans An Engagement Party?
There are many aspects of etiquette to consider when putting together an engagement party. If you have not been involved in or attended many engagement parties, you may not be aware of how they tend to be planned.
Traditionally, the parents of the bride tend to host the party and are heavily involved in the planning. That said, it is not uncommon for other friends and relatives to be involved in the planning of an engagement party but the bride’s parents, if able, should be asked to help celebrate this special moment first.
Can You Wear White To An Engagement Party?
When it comes to wearing white to an engagement party, there is no clear-cut answer. Wearing white during the summer months can be expected. That said, if you want people to be dressing in a certain way, you should establish a dress code provided in the invite. Word of mouth can work as well, but without clearly stating a dress code in the invite you will run the risk of some confusion amongst guests who will want clarification before picking out their outfits.
Having a theme to the engagement party could impact the dress code. Aboard the Skyline Princess, we can not only help to provide and accommodate a theme… but we also have the ability to provide multiple themes for different decks of the ship. And if your theme requires catering that doesn’t seem to quite fit exactly with what our in-house catering options offer, unlike most yachts we do allow for outside catering.
An engagement party can vary greatly in the number of people that could be attending – from dozens to hundreds. The Skyline Princess can accommodate parties big and small. And we will work with you to arrange an event that is right for you and your guests.
