Autumn is here. A season full of fun fall activities such as apple and pumpkin picking, hayrides, and leaf-peeping. Never heard of leaf-peeping? This is an informal term used in the United States for the activity in which people travel to view and photograph the fall foliage in areas where leaves change colors in autumn. If this sounds like an activity you’d enjoy participating in, we have great news. Skyline Cruises is proud to offer lighthouse cruises which are a terrific venue for leaf-peeping!
Fall Foliage Lighthouse Tours
We are especially excited this year to be offering several fall foliage lighthouse tours and we hope you will join us! The fall foliage season typically peaks in late October. It is our recommendation to consult the New York State’s fall foliage report to get the most out of your Skyline Cruise. What more could you want on a beautiful fall day than the opportunity to gaze upon beautiful lighthouses and peep some spectacular leaves? All you need to do is book your preferred date and hop aboard as we sail from the World’s Fair Marina to Sand’s Point Lighthouse and back for a memorable 2.5-hour trip! Sights we will be touring include:
- Stepping Stone Lighthouse
- Execution Rock Lighthouse
- Sands Point Lighthouse
- Fort Totten
- Fort Schuyler
- U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
- Hart and City Islands
- Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges
- Gold Coast of Long Island, and much more!
We encourage guests to bring your own food, beverages, and cooler so that you can safely kick back and relax with your loved ones. We also encourage everyone to bring your camera and your binoculars to truly be able to take in the stunning views!
You will be simply amazed at how the midday sun along with the stunning blue sky makes the red and orange foliage pop. Even if it’s a cloudy day you will still revel in the beauty of the fall foliage. Photo opportunities are plentiful with the gorgeous combination of warm and cool colors. These will be sights you will remember forever!
Safety First at Skyline Cruises
Please know that given the current state of the world, the safety of our passengers and crew continues to be our top priority. We continue to actively monitor COVID-19 and its implications and continue to go above and beyond to meet or exceed NYC guidelines for health and safety. The Skyline Princess is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to each sailing, and social distancing protocols are strictly followed. This includes bathroom attendants to monitor the amount of passengers allowed in at one time, designated up and down staircases, and private tables so that groups who come together can enjoy their food away from others.
