The Queens Zoo has deep roots that began 120 years ago when the New York Zoological Society was founded. It later evolved into the Wildlife Conservation Society. The zoo is actively involved in conservation efforts to protect and sustain endangered species. The Noguchi Museum was created and designed by world-renowned American artist Isamu Noguchi to display his work. While the museum opened in 1985, it was built around a 1920s structure and features an outdoor sculpture garden and indoor/outdoor galleries. Dedicated to celebrating film, television and digital media, the Museum of the Moving Image screens more than 400 films a year and holds public discussions with influential creators like Martin Scorsese, Tim Burton, Glenn Close, Frank Oz, and many more. In addition to its core exhibition, Behind the Screen, its home of changing exhibits as well as The Jim Henson Exhibition, an ongoing display featuring more than 400 items like original artwork, rare footage, puppets, and more.
