Autumn is here and we are about to cruise into peak fall foliage season. Although this time of year is brief, the autumn landscape makes the perfect background for both family photos and seasonal portraits. There truly is no better way to witness the beauty of this gorgeous time of year than on a NYC skyline cruise. Now is a perfect time to hop aboard our 3-deck luxury yacht, the Skyline Princess, to celebrate any occasion and capture the magic of the fall season!
Spectacular Fall Foliage Photography
Taking photographs outdoors can be challenging no matter the season due to shifting clouds and sunlight. In the fall, the midday sun and spectacular blue skies will make the red and orange foliage pop, creating gorgeous, picturesque fall tableaux. Cloudy days are opportunities for magical photo possibilities, especially using the New York City skyline as your subject, and shadows can help create unique points of interest as well.
According to Canon, when taking outdoor photographs with a combination of warm and cool colors, using a polarizing lens filter can reduce reflections from water, darken skies, and enhance cloud contrast, all of which help balance colors and make the whole scene more vivid.
Using a multi-focal lens will afford you the opportunity to play around with cropping and perspective. A longer focal length will allow you to zoom in on specific details within a landscape scene.
Photo Opportunities During a Fall Foliage Charter
Typically, the fall foliage season peaks in late October in New York City. You can monitor New York State’s fall foliage report to ensure that you get the most out of your Skyline Cruise.
The best way to view fall foliage in the New York City area is during a full ship charter cruise. If you book a full ship charter, the Skyline Princess will pass by some beautiful locations on Long Island Sound and the Hudson River, depending on what port you leave from.
Booking a spot on one of our public cruises means passing by some of the most beautiful parks and tree-lined shorelines of New York City including Liberty island, Flushing Meadow Park, Randall’s Island, Roosevelt Island, and Governor’s Island.
All of our public dinner cruises, as well as many of our private charters, leave from our home port at the World’s Fair Marina in Flushing, Queens. We depart from other ports across Long Island, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
