Is It Legal to Get Married on a Boat?
Having hosted many weddings aboard the Skyline Princess, we can confidently say that it is, in fact, legal to get married on a boat! When we set sail, we’ll be staying in the New York Harbor area, so you’ll be getting married in the state of New York.
We can also provide a sea captain to officiate your wedding! Captain Arnold is an ordained chaplain… and the only one who is also a sea captain registered with the New York City Clerk’s office. We are happy to accommodate your own officiant if you wish as well!
Can You Have a Wedding Reception on a Cruise Ship?
We can’t speak for other cruise ships, but the Skyline Princess is happy to host wedding receptions! The Skyline Princess can take you through either the scenic NYC harbor or the beautiful Long Island Sound as we host you and your guests.
We can accommodate up to 450 guests if you charter the whole yacht. Or you can book a single deck or even a small section for a micro-wedding with only your closest family and friends. We will work with you to come up with the right amount of space to accommodate your wedding size and budget.
What Is the Itinerary for a Boat Wedding?
The itinerary for a boat wedding can still be flexible based on your needs. However, it is very important to make sure your guests arrive well in advance of our yacht’s departure. There should be no need to rush to find parking as parking in the World’s Fair Marina is free for you and your guests.
We have an open bar as well as our own catering but provide you with the option to have your own catering preference brought aboard. So, if you have your heart set on a particular restaurant or catering service, we are happy to accommodate. We can work with you on the anticipated times that the Skyline Princess will pass key landmarks so you and your wedding photographer can take unforgettable and impossible-to-replicate pictures without interrupting key moments of your wedding.
