Autumn is the perfect time to treat yourself to an excursion. New York is basking in the colorful glow of foliage and you’ll feel the breeze of crisp autumn air. It’s the perfect time to book a Skyline Cruise. Our dinner cruises and brunch cruises are fabulous for whatever you have in mind. You may just want a great night out or you may be looking to celebrate something like a birthday, anniversary, or office promotion. Skyline Cruises are the perfect venue for any celebration, and while we’re best known for unique views of New York City’s world-famous skyline, that’s not all we’re known for. This is the perfect time of year to see beautiful area lighthouses.
Skyline Cruises Are Perfect For Any Occasion
A trip aboard our 3-deck luxury yacht, the Skyline Princess is more than just sightseeing. Skyline Cruises are also known for our mouthwatering meals that are all prepared by our onboard chefs. We’re perfect for any big event you might be celebrating like weddings, including our moving wedding at sea officiated by our good friend Captain Arnold. We can help you celebrate coming of age milestones like Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Sweet 16s, or Quinceañeras. If you’re looking for a venue for corporate outings we’ve hosted them for 25 years now. Skyline Cruises are perfect for any occasion and we’d like to let you know about some of the unique lighthouses you may encounter on our full ship charters.
Historic Lighthouses on Long Island Sound
One of our most popular full ship charters is our Long Island Sound lighthouse cruises. While our public cruises leave from our home port at the World’s Fair Marina in Flushing, Queens, where there’s always free parking for Skyline customers, full ship charters can leave from ports in Connecticut, Westchester and elsewhere on Long Island. We can also run charters from New Jersey and Manhattan.
One of the most historic lighthouses on Long Island Sound is Execution Rocks Lighthouse. There are many tales about how the lighthouse got its name. Some say it’s related to the British treatment of American colonists, while others claim that many ships were “executed” when they ran into rocks near the reef. Sands Point Lighthouse was originally approved to be built about 1,500 yards away from Execution Rocks. The lighthouse has undergone several renovations throughout the 19th and 20th century and in the 1920s, the lighthouse and a nearby mansion were sold to publisher William Randolph Hearst.
One of the most unique looking lighthouses on Long Island Sound is the Stepping Stones Lighthouse. It was built in 1876 to protect ships from running aground near Kings Point on Long Island’s North Shore. The lighthouse was designed in Victorian Second Empire style and was modernized in 1944.
